Sector one

Cement

We modelled the Life Cycle Assessment behind a registered IBU cement declaration, declared per tonne. Cement is also the category where Iraqi capacity figures are strongest.

The Iraqi cement picture

• The Ministry of Industry and Minerals has been planning new plants totalling 52 Mt/yr of capacity, as reported in mid-2025.
• The Kubaisa plant produced more than 1.7 Mt in 2025 against 1.8 Mt of capacity.
• Al-Qaim reached its full design capacity of 840,000 t/yr.
• Babil's output rose 13% year on year.
• Exports to Syria run at roughly 7,500 t/month.

Steel and rebar

We modelled the Life Cycle Assessment behind a registered IBU steel pipe declaration, also declared per tonne. Rebar and pipe share the same PCR family and the same data structure: scrap and iron input, electricity, rolling energy, yield loss.

Three steel references, not one

• Steel pipe — the registered IBU declaration above, declared per tonne.
• Structural steel hollow sections and structural built-ups — Jiangyin Jianhe Steel, China. Completed EPD work on the fabricated structural sections that frame a building.
• Steel structures — ZEMAN ÇELİK, Türkiye. Completed EPD work at the level of the assembled structure rather than the mill product.

Between them these cover the three points at which an Iraqi steel buyer asks the question: the mill product, the structural section and the finished structure. Steel ceiling systems, for BUTEM and OWA, sit in the finishes record further down.

The Iraqi steel picture

• The Industry Ministry estimates Iraqi steel demand above 8 Mt/yr.
• Van Steel, part of Galiawa Group in Erbil, runs two rolling mills producing 8–32 mm rebar at 700,000 t/yr.
• Danieli has been contracted for a 500,000 t/yr rebar mill at Al-Hilla near Baghdad.
• The General Company for Iron and Steel has contracted a 1 Mt/yr sponge iron plant.

Ceramics, tiles and finishes

This is the broadest part of our authored record and the part with current, in-validity declarations: tiles, ceilings, raised floors, mortars and putties, insulation, timber and acoustic furniture.

Three manufacturers in this category have completed EPD work with ERKE: RAK Ceramics in the United Arab Emirates, DURATILES and EGE SERAMIK in Türkiye. The RAK Ceramics declarations are the ones that carry a registration number, so they are set out in full here.

The rest of the tile record

• DURATILES, Türkiye — completed EPD work on porcelain, floor tile and wall tile, plus a GRP profile and panel coating. Two of its tile products also hold GREENGUARD Gold.
• EGE SERAMIK, Türkiye — completed EPD work on porcelain, floor tile and wall tile, plus Green Squared for the tile group and GREENGUARD Gold on three products. FDES for the same three tile products are in progress.

• ASPEN Yapı ve Zemin Sistemleri — Integra steel and aluminium ceiling systems and Targa raised access floors with chipboard and calcium sulphate cores, four declarations at 1 m², under the International EPD System.
• Entegre Harç A.Ş. — seven declarations at 1 kg covering plasters, satin putties and tile adhesives, under the International EPD System.

Sector four

Block, panel, paint, insulation, plaster and mortar

These are the categories an Iraqi contractor buys by the truckload, and they sit inside the completed record as well. None of the work below is presented with a registration number, because that is published only for the declarations that carry one.

Concrete block

• EPS BLOCK, Türkiye — completed EPD work on EPS block, in the concrete block category. Block is the single highest-volume product in Iraqi construction and the obvious first declaration for a local plant.

Aluminium composite panel and façade cladding

Four manufacturers, on three continents, in the category that dominates commercial façades from Erbil to Basra.

• ALAZ GROUP, Türkiye — aluminium profile and aluminium composite panel.
• ALUBOND, Serbia — Fire Rated FR B aluminium composite panel.
• ASPEN Yapı ve Zemin Sistemleri, Türkiye — four completed aluminium composite panel products, alongside the registered ceiling and raised floor declarations above.
• HVG FAÇADES, China — MondoClad and Nucleo aluminium panels.

Paint and thermal insulation

• BETEK Boya Kimya, Türkiye — twelve completed products in one record: six paints, five thermal insulation boards in stonewool and EPS, and a stonewool sandwich panel board. The stonewool thermal insulation board declaration EPD-IES-0015498 is registered with the International EPD System through EPD Türkiye and appears in the table on the declarations page.

Plaster and mortar

• ENTEGRE HARÇ A.Ş., Türkiye — plasters, satin putties and tile adhesives. Seven of these declarations carry registration numbers with the International EPD System, all declared at 1 kg, and all seven are in the table on the declarations page.
